Sanford Stadium at the University of Georgia is the home of the Georgia Bulldogs, which has seen numerous renovations and additions over the years to go from a capacity of 30,000 in 1929 to 92,746 today, making it the 17th-largest stadium in the world. Modifications to the south side included widening of a pedestrian access corridor from 9′ to 21′ and the creation of additional handicap access, along with the addition of cast-in-place walls at three elevations for new bridges, restroom areas, and parking zones. This phase wrapped before the 2023 football season. As the season was ending with a road game, phase two began, adding three more slabs along with a new high-end “club” space, renewed media facilities, and reinforcement to accommodate beer coolers at concession stands.

Georgia Gold Rusher Roller Coaster

The Georgia Gold Rusher is an innovative new roller coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia. Combining water ride and roller coaster features, the track reaches a peak height of 144 feet, and the spinning gondola cars move at speeds of up to 60 mph. The design incorporates a splash pit, a 50,000-gallon decorative pool, and a station pit that includes a 70′-long thickened slab to support the ride’s mechanical operations as well as the loading and unloading zones. The fast-paced yet intricate concrete work was enabled by proper planning, a team mentality, and an outstanding workforce.

8′ deep, 2,300 SF splash pit with 48″ thickened slabs to support columns.
8′ deep, 1,400 SF station pit with a 70′ long, 16′ wide 48″ deep thickened slab.
14′ square, 4′ thick ride foundations supported by auger cast piles.
54″ square, 6′ tall, heavily reinforced piers with 36″ long anchor bolts with a tolerance of less than 1/32″.
A unique poured walkway with wood-grain-patterned stamping.
